Lot's of cool things today. I have my third Weight Watcher's meeting at 12pm, to start. I've decided I won't really weigh myself much between meetings so I can really see my progress, so today's weigh-in will be another surprise for me.
After the meeting I have a phone call scheduled with a client. I'm excited because I finished a very customized Wordpress project for them and will be showcasing it during the call. They will be selling ebooks through the site and I was able to heavily customize the WP theme I designed (using custom fields) to make it really easy to display the books in a "shop" of sorts. Anytime they want to add a new book, they can just "blog" it with the book's details in specific custom fields. You'll see what I mean after I add the site to my portfolio once it's finished.
I bought some new RAM for my laptop yesterday and rush ordered it! Can you believe I've been surviving on only 1gb for three years?!
This should help speed things up, heh. Instead of two 512mb sticks I will now have two 1gb sticks! It should tide me over until I build the new Precious. The RAM may arrive today, here's hoping!
Finally, the day of awesome will end with me and Jess buying Sims 2: Apartment Life! Hurrah!
I heard some rumors that it wasn't going to be released until tomorrow or Thursday but so many websites say today! I'll have to call the stores later to make sure. Yay for today!
Continuing on my quest to get a new computer to replace my wheezing laptop, I have done a bunch of research lately, customized systems on different sites and have finally made two choices: It will be a PC...and I will build it myself!
After toiling for a bit over getting a Mac vs. a PC, I decided to stay with PC mostly because I'm a gamer. I don't want to buy all new Mac-version games and I'd rather not try to run my Windows games via an emulator or Apple's Boot Camp. Maybe I'll get a Mac at some point in the future but not anytime soon.
So Chaz said he would help me with the details, since he has built computers before. I already know what specs I want, of course, but he'll have to advise me on which brands to choose. We already have DVD/CD-RW drives, now I just need the rest. Cake, right?
My first purchase may very well be this drool-worthy case by In Win: the Allure.
Quite girly, I know. If the sparklies end up being too much for me my second choice is the Alpha360, which is from the same series.
Neither are "full" towers, but rather compact and small. It means I'll have to make sure the components I buy will fit in there, hehe, but I'm not too worried unless a component that I really want is too big.
Hopefully I won't run into that problem, I think it should be ok though.
I'll probably make a running list of things I want as a separate page on here and check things off as I get them.
I'm really excited, hopefully I'll save some money too.
